EQUIPMENT. Our stock of 6

D.III Telephone instruments had to be sent to the Royal Corps of Signals Workshop for a detailed report to be made on them. They had done hard and satisfactory work for the last 10 years and had only been kept in working order by constant care and attention. After examination, one had to be written off and the others were repaired and renewed with spara parts. The remainder of the line and visual equipment is in a fairly satisfactory conditions, the majority of the instruments Daylight Signalling Lamps having seen nearly as much service as the telephone instruments, although they have not been so hard worked.

The "C" Wireless Set is in good working condition, although owing to the damp weather, three transformers have had to be replaced in the Receiving Set. The set could not be used for several weeks during the summer, owing to the workmen on the roof of the Government office cutting the aerial. This happened on three separate occasions. Finally the aerial was fixed entirely in H.K.V.D.C. grounds, the far end of it being attached to the highest point of the Drill Hall.

The 10 line Cordless Exchange received from the Crown Agents last season has justified itself in all that was expected of it and is in excellent working conditions.

To confirm to the equipment work by the Royal Corps of Signals, to whom we shall be attached in any emergency, the Corps Signals equipment was changed in September from webbing to leather, and bandoliers instead of pouches.

For the greater part of the year the unit was in charge of C.S.M., G.T. Padgett, M.B.E.
